Has it happened to you? Despite your best intentions, you’re running a few minutes late for work. Maybe if you hurry just a bit… Nope. It’s not gonna happen — how could you have known there’d be an accident blocking the interstate?
Anger. Frustration. And finally — acceptance. That’s when you call in to tell your boss you’ll be late.
You begin to notice your new traffic jam neighbors. How are they taking the news?
Oh, boy — it’s not looking good at all. Pursed lips. Frowns. Snarls. Some guy banging on his steering wheel. (Hey, that’s a curse word, Mister! I know your mother taught you better!) A glimpse of a young lady singing to the beat of a tune.
For the most part, a bunch of un-happy campers — all headed in the same direction. Fellow rat-racers. But you’ve been down this road before. And just like all the other times, you start that same old ‘conversation’ with yourself.
Why am I doing this?
“To pay the bills. So I can buy things that make me happy. Things that save me time. Maybe retire in comfort someday.”
But are you happy doing what you’re doing?
“What does it matter? A person’s gotta work — and I owe too much money!”
True, you gotta do something for a living — but why not Pay Off All Your Debt? You know, shake off some of that stress? Then you can think about what you’d really like to do for a living...
(The sound of hysterical laughing…)
But… what IF… you were totally and wonderfully debt free…
**Would you still like to work for someone else and drive to work in traffic each day?
**Would you work the same shift? What hours would you *love* to work?
**How many hours would you like to work, if given a choice?
**If you had no debt, what would you like to be doing for a living, this very moment?
**What would you do differently for enjoyment? Something that you are not able to do now?
Ah. The traffic is finally moving again. Next time you’re stuck in a traffic jam, see if you don’t have a light-bulb moment. What would you rather be doing? Could this be a life-changing event for you?
